Kansas couple caught in van reported stolen from Missouri
SHAWNEE COUNTY –Law enforcement are investigating two suspect on multiple allegations after an arrest. Just before 11:30p.m. August 21, a sheriff's deputy located a red 1999 Plymouth Voyager that was reported stolen out of Missouri in the 1900 block of NW Topeka Boulevard, according to Shawnee County Deputy Abigail Christian.
KWU unveils renovated dining hall after six-month overhaul
On Friday, Aug. 23, Kansas Wesleyan University (KWU) celebrated the nearly complete six-month renovation of Shriwise Dining into the new Bieber Dining Hall. "We expanded into space next to it [Shriwise] so we could enlarge the space," said KWU President Matt Thompson. "We went back to the studs, gutted, started again, took walls out so we could create a whole new floor plan and experience."
McPherson High School Hires Five-Time State Champ Daryl Hoelting as New Head Softball Coach
McPHERSON, Kan. – McPherson High School announced earlier this week the new hire of Daryl Hoelting, who will take the position as their new head softball coach. Hoelting heads to McPherson following 24 years of experience coaching high school softball and multiple years at the college level. His experience includes five state championships, four runners-up finishes, 16 regional championships, 17 league championships, and a 90% win percentage. He also holds the state record with 72 consecutive wins at one point.

Meade Aims to Play Angry in 2024
Meade head football coach Clint Kuhns has seen many Meade teams. He played at Meade and coached as MHS so he has observed many Meade senior classes. Kuhns, the third year head coach observed this year’s senior class plays their best when they play angry. Meade has continued their success since the 13-0 state championship season of 2021 going 9-2 in 2022 and 8-2 last year. Kuhns and the Buffaloes hope this moniker will carry Meade over the top in 2024.

Volleyball swept by Kansas State in exhibition game
Wichita State volleyball hung its NIVC championship banner, but the team was unable to take a set off Kansas State University in the season-opening exhibition game. The Shockers were swept 3-0 (29-27), (25-20), (25-17) in Koch Arena on Saturday afternoon. Since the game was an exhibition, the loss will not count against the Shockers’ overall record.
