USFS approves Phase I of the Red Rock Trails Access Plan
The Coconino National Forest announced on Friday, Aug. 2, that work on Phase I of the Red Rock Trails Access Plan has been approved. Work will begin in the vicinity of Bell Rock, Cathedral Rock, Doe Mountain, Oak Creek Elementary School and Sedona Red Rock High School to construct 4.06 new miles of trails, officially recognize 4.07 miles of existing trails and close approximately 0.17 miles of trails.

An Arizona woman, 60-year-old Kyoko Runningbear, has been found more than a day after she was reported missing during a hike in the Gold Canyon area. According to a report by FOX 10 Phoenix, Runningbear left for a hike early Monday morning on the Cloudview Trailhead and failed to return, prompting a search and rescue operation by the Pinal County Sheriff's Office (PCSO).

PHOENIX (CN) — Maricopa County will begin a recount Friday in a Democratic congressional primary separated by just a few dozen votes. In the only primary yet to be called in the most populous county in Arizona, former Phoenix Vice Mayor Yassamin Ansari leads activist and former state Senator Raquel Terán by only 42 votes. The margin makes up less than 0.5% of the total votes, which triggers an automatic recount under state law.
