NJ Hudson River towns prepare for major crowds ahead of Macy’s fireworks show

The Macy’s Fourth of July fireworks show is coming back to the Hudson River after more than a decade. New Jersey towns along the river are gearing up ahead of the show, preparing for major crowds -including local businesses It’s been 11 years since cities along the Hudson had to prepare for this event. Jersey City, Hoboken and Weehawken will be prime viewing spots. All are expecting droves of people to descend on areas like Pier A in Hoboken to enjoy the show. Those heading over to the river to see the show can expect road closures, parking restrictions and delays on Thursday night. Both Jersey City and Hoboken have released guidelines and lists of street closures starting the morning of July 4 that will impact spectators and people who live in these communities. Co-owner Amine Chenguiti is boasting one of the only rooftops in the area. "Everyone is welcome to join us. We try to keep the crowd under control. People can walk in, but I always highly recommend reservations that allow us to control how many people we’re going to have for the staffing for security of everyone and make everyone comfortable,” Chenguiti says. Both cities are strongly encouraging folks coming out to see the fireworks display to use mass transit because even in the years when the show was over the East River, the area still saw gridlock, especially at the end of the night. Macy’s fireworks start around 9:30 p.m. but spectators are encouraged to arrive earlier. "
