Coroner called to scene after pedestrian struck by car

JESSUP, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Officials say a coroner was called to the scene after a vehicle hit a pedestrian in Lackawanna County.

According to the Lackawanna County Communication Center around 10:46 a.m. crews were dispatched to a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian at the intersection of Grassy Island Ave and Hill Street in Jessup.

Chief Berta of the Jessup Police Department stated the woman who was hit in the crash is in the hospital undergoing surgery.

The driver of the vehicle was a female who had a medical episode before hitting a fence, fire hydrant, and a cemetery wall, Chief Berta noted.

Jessup Police Department is handling the incident and PSP is handling the reconstruction of the incident, officials note.
