AI is in.

And in growing waves of acceptance demanding that we all pay attention and listen up because AI will be in our lives whether we want it or not.

Whether we need it or need.

And why is that?

Because it’s good for us.

It’ll make everything we do just a little bit easier. And in some cases, allow us to sit back and watch it do our work for us.

But is AI for real?

Of course, it is.

It’s a consolidation of everything that’s out there and already thought of by everyone else. Only it’s been borrowed and reconfigured, shaken and not stirred, until it appears new. Appears like something we might do and actually like.

But it’s fake, right? The real Fake thing. The real Fake essay, story, or poem written by someone almost as good as Shakespeare because, well, some of Shakespeare’s “DNA” is all over it. His sonnets and plays.

A bit of Shelley and Keats as well, Dickenson and Dylan Thomas and all the merry poets of the last 200 years, all neatly integrated and lovingly mashed together so that it oozes easily onto the page or image.

So, it’s ready for use without having to do much to bring it into existence. Soon all our efforts and creativity will be boiled down to prompts.

In the Style of Monet and Impressionism, give me an image of a monkey riding a Harley, wearing a football helmet and a red scarf blowing behind him in the wind.

Write me an essay on what challenges Man will encounter in colonizing outer planets while following the teachings of Groucho Marx and Eliza Doolittle - in Yiddish, please.

Just think of all the time we’ll have left over to do the really important things in our lives. Like reading books or painting landscapes - with keyboards and actual oil paints.

Or vacuuming the house ourselves and giving little Roomba or Eufy a day off.

The sky’s the limit.

But is it really any good?

For actions other than spot welding a bumper or digging holes beneath the earth, will AI provide us with real value in our lives?

Something better than what we already have.

Will we save money and time and be able to use what’s left over for cool things, like more electronics, an eBike, or even a second Alexa, so the first one isn’t all alone and has someone to talk to?

AI is a marvel; it even says so and will write a 1000-word essay to prove it.

But let’s save time and just accept that AI is everything the programmers and IT scientists tell us and accept that it’s here to stay, to improve, to assist, and to make our lives more comfortable.

And if we really don’t like it - oh, sorry, that’s not an option. So, just get over it.

Just imagine sitting in the back seat of an AI-assisted vehicle, reading a book, well maybe not that.

Listening to music or spending a little quality time with your significant other doing what you’d like to be doing if you had any time to actually do it - while making your way to mom’s house or the opening of the new automated cinema at the mall.

Now there’s something really special about doing nothing, while AI is doing it for you. Well, not totally nothing, that would be boring and a species-ending event if carried too far - but we’re getting ahead of ourselves.

That will never happen. Really.
