Opinion: We Are All Afraid of Trump To Some Degree and We Need to Admit It

Accidents are witnessed every day. People come forward and tell their version of what happened. Invariably the stories are different. Everyone sees things from their own perspective and not what actually took place.

That’s why the police rely on forensics to solve a case – eyewitness testimony is too unreliable.

It’s the same in politics. Incidents happen every day but are known by different names.

A speech. A rally. A statement to the press about immigration, the economy, the world watching what’s happening to us here.

And everyone has a different version of what was said or done. What it really means.

He was misquoted. A bloodbath referred to automobiles. The Bible is his favorite book.

And yet in the background, like a film playing behind a band performing on stage, what’s happening in the World of Trump continues to unfold.

The upcoming trials. The huge bonds posted resulted from cases already lost in the courts. The potential of criminal conviction and time spent in prison.

And yet the witnesses continue to give their version of what’s happening.

The man in the Ford ran the red light. No, insists another witness, it was a white Toyota driven by a very tall man in a hat.

Versions far from the truth but believed, why?

In a road accident, there are no winners, just unfortunate victims. In the world of politics and democracy, there are winners and losers, that’s the way the game is set up.

But sometimes the rules get changed. The outcome is of even greater importance.

    trials

It’s hard to imagine anyone looking at the record, the facts being shown, the case verdicts announced, the fines levied and collected, the upcoming trials, and not having an idea that something unique is happening right now.

Something we’ve never seen before in our lifetimes. A political outcome that is scary.

A person who views dictatorships around the world as nothing more than hard-driving CEOs ruling their countries with an iron fist and making a lot of money for some people.

A situation to be supported, not feared.

Men have ruled the world for millennia, it’s what works. Groups of people don’t get things done they just get in their own way.

One person who’s right all the time is best.

But sometimes the film behind the band playing on stage becomes more interesting than the band itself.

That what it’s showing is what is actually happening.

And the constant distractions are less important than what the film reveals so the people in the audience start paying closer attention.

It’s what’s happening more and more today. Look at the polls. Hear the speeches and support.

To some degree, we are all afraid of the man and what he represents and now the distractions are falling away to reveal the truth.

At times being afraid of something is a good thing. A pro-survival thing to embrace.

Perhaps we should all embrace that fear and act accordingly.
