Introduction

As I had discussed in a prior piece published by NewsBreak, according to an archived report from The New York Times Rite Aid filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in October of 2023 due to unmanageable debt.

As an early repercussion of that bankruptcy, a first-round of 154 national Rite-Aid locations were scheduled to close, including several in the state of Ohio.

Today, the company announced four more pending closures, following an announcement earlier this week of a standalone closure of a store located at 4914 Youngstown-Poland Road in Youngstown.

According to a July 7th report from The-Sun.com, the four latest Rite Aid locations announced as closing in Ohio are the following:

• 713 North State Street in Girard
• 147 West Liberty Street in Hubbard
• 25 West Main Street in East Palestine
• 569 High Street in Cortland

No specific closing dates for these stores have yet been announced by the company. Prescriptions will continue to be filled for now; information on prescription transfers is forthcoming.
