    Author’s Note

This article is based on corporate postings and accredited media reports. Linked information within this article is attributed to the following outlets: ScrapeHero.com, The-Sun.com and Aldi.us.

    Introduction

I have previously reported on Aldi's acquisition of the Winn-Dixie chain, thereby adding to and consolidating Aldi's national presence.

Now comes word of the latest Winn-Dixie closure in the state of Florida, but there has yet to be an announcement of company conversion.

For perspective, per ScrapeHero.com’s most recently updated location count of existing Winn-Dixie locations: There are 546 WinnDixie stores in the United States as of May 29, 2024. The state and territory with the most number of WinnDixie locations in the US is Florida, with 460 stores, which is about 84% of all WinnDixie stores in the US.

    Let us explore.

    Winn-Dixie 2024

According to a July 9 report from The-Sun.com, though rumors abound the location is becoming an Aldi there has been no official announcement to that effect.

As excerpted from the report: Winn-Dixie is reportedly closing its location in Lakeland, Florida — about 36 miles from Tampa, according to a Facebook post. A closing banner has also been placed on the store, according to another Facebook post.

The pending closure has since been confirmed by the company as taking effect at the end of this month.

    Conclusion

This is a developing story. In the event of pertinent updates to these matters, I will share them here on NewsBreak.

    Thank you for reading.
