    Author’s Note

This article is based on corporate postings and accredited media reports. Linked information within this article is attributed to the following outlets: ScrapeHero.com, Dollar General and The-Sun.com.

    Introduction

I write extensively about the Dollar General discount chain, most frequently of late regarding the company’s ongoing national expansion. This piece, however, regards an upcoming spate of Louisiana store closures.

For perspective, per ScrapeHero.com's most recently updated store location count: There are 20,039 Dollar General stores in the United States as of July 02, 2024. The state and territory with the most number of Dollar General locations in the US is Texas, with 1,854 stores, which is about 9% of all Dollar General stores in the US.

    Let us explore.

    Dollar General, 2024

According to an August 2 report from The-Sun.com, it is not yet known if Dollar General stores other than the five will also be closing in the state.

As excerpted from the report: Rather than making an official statement, these select Dollar General stores put signs on their doors to announce the closure. All five stores are located in New Orleans East and are set to close on August 14, according to Nola.com.

Per the Nola.com report, the closing locations are the following: 10600 Chef Menteur Highway, 5700 Crowder Boulevard, 6500 Downman Road, 4515 Old Gentilly Road and 11020 Morrison Road.

No official reason has yet been announced by the company for the upcoming closures.

    Conclusion

This a developing story. In the event of pertinent updates to this matter, I will share them here on NewsBreak.

    Thank you for reading.
