This article is based on corporate postings and accredited media reports. Linked information within this article is attributed to the following outlets: ScrapeHero.com and KRDO.com.

    Introduction

Traffic concerns are being addressed regarding an upcoming third In-N-Out Burger restaurant opening soon in Colorado Springs.

The new location will be along Garden of the Gods Road, just west of Interstate 25, which is already heavily trafficked due to the area's plethora of fast food restaurants including Chick-fil-A.

Drivers reportedly worry traffic congestion will overtake the I-25/Garden of the Gods interchange.

Firstly, for perspective in terms of company restaurant numbers per ScrapeHero.com’s most recently updated location count: There are 403 In-N-Out Burger restaurants in the United States as of July 03, 2024. The state and territory with the most number of In-N-Out Burger locations in the US is California, with 276 restaurants, which is about 68% of all In-N-Out Burger restaurants in the US.

It should be noted this most current figure is nine above the November, 2023 update.

    Let us explore.

    In-N-Out Burger, 2024

According to an August 7 report this week from KRDO.com, Colorado Springs city traffic engineer Todd Frisbie addressed the traffic concerns.

As excerpted from the report, quoting Frisbie: "We're requiring these places now to have bigger capacity in their drive-thrus, to be able to handle most of their drive-thru traffic on their site and not have it spill out onto a street or road. We ask them in the development process, maximize your queuing as much as possible with the site that you have. And we've found that approach seems to work well."

Per the report, the two past Colorado Springs company openings were beset by early traffic issues.

The restaurant is scheduled to open later this year, though no specific date has yet been announced by the company.

    Conclusion

The national expansion of In-N-Out Burger, and issues that arise thereof, is an ongoing story. In the event of pertinent updates to this matter, inclusive of other potential Colorado openings and official announcements of milestone dates, I will share them here on NewsBreak.
