An ambitious 22 new Publix markets are coming to Florida. Only one, however, as of now has released an opening date.

Firstly, for perspective per ScrapeHero.com’s most recently-updated location count of the Publix grocery store chain: There are 1,423 Publix stores in the United States as of July 29, 2024. The state and territory with the most number of Publix locations in the US is Florida, with 888 stores, which is about 62% of all Publix stores in the US.

It should be noted that national number has increased by some 25-plus locations from this point last year, reflecting the company's continued expansion.

According to an August 8th report from ClickOrlando.com, Florida's ambitious Publix expansion is in full gear.

From the report: According to the company’s store locator, 22 locations are listed as “Coming Soon,” but only one of the locations has had its opening date released so far. That new location is set to come to Jacksonville — the city with the third-most Publix stores in the state — at 11341 Normandy Blvd. It’s scheduled to open to the public on Aug. 15.
