    Author’s Note

This article is based on corporate postings and accredited media reports. Linked information within this article is attributed to the following outlets: WTVM.com, WDHN.com, Facebook.com, ScrapeHero.com and Corporate.Walmart.com.

    Introduction

I have written extensively about the Walmart retail superchain. Of late, most of my articles have detailed the company’s recent spate of nationwide store closures.

In that spirit, a major Alabama Walmart Supercenter has closed indefinitely pending completion of an investigation into a store fire.

The location's Facebook page said the store is "temporarily closed for the foreseeable future."

According to Eufaula Police Chief Danny Christ, three suspects have been identified as potentially starting the fire and are presently being investigated.

Firstly, for perspective per ScrapeHero.com's most recently updated company store location count: There are 4,610 Walmart stores in the United States as of August 05, 2024. The state and territory with the most number of Walmart locations in the US is Texas, with 508 stores, which is about 11% of all Walmart stores in the US.

    Let us explore.

    Walmart, 2024

According to an August 11 report from WTVM.com, news of the store's indefinite closure was first announced on its Facebook page.

As excerpted from the report: According to Eufaula Police Chief Danny Christ, a fire occurred at the store, and 3 suspects have been identified in the investigation... The company also announced that its Pharmacy will also be closed until further notice.

The address of the store is 3176 S Eufaula Ave, Eufaula, AL 36027.

Per WDHN.com, the fire started in the store’s home appliance section Saturday night, August 10. No injuries were reported.

    Conclusion

    This is a developing story.

In the event of pertinent updates, inclusive of specific reopening timeframe and/or announcements of milestone dates, I will share them here on NewsBreak.

    Thank you for reading.
