This article is based on corporate postings and accredited media reports. Linked information within this article is attributed to the following outlets: ScrapeHero.com, WFAA.com and Newsroom.HEB.com.

    Introduction

A new H-E-B store will soon be under construction for a planned 2026 opening, continuing the grocer's ambitious North Texas expansion.

The new store, however, will represent a major geographic shift for the company.

Upon completion, the store will be the company's first ever grocery in Dallas County proper.

Firstly, for perspective per ScrapeHero.com's most recently updated store location count: There are 337 HEB stores in the United States as of August 20, 2024. The state and territory with the most number of HEB locations in the US is Texas, with 337 stores, which is about 100% of all HEB stores in the US.

    Let us explore.

    H-E-B, 2024

According to an August 28 report from WFAA.com, the new store will be built in Irving and located in its Las Colinas community, at Interstate 635 and Olympus Boulevard.

As excerpted from the report: Right now, the closest H-E-B store for Dallas residents has been in Plano -- over 22 miles away. The Las Colinas location would still be around 18 miles away, but Dallas residents wouldn't have to take a toll road to get there.

Construction for the new location will reportedly begin later this year, and 700 new jobs are expected to be created.

    Conclusion

This expansion of H-E-B is an ongoing story. In the event of pertinent updates to this matter, inclusive of official announcements of milestone dates, I will share them here on NewsBreak.
