    Introduction

In December of 2023, the City of Bartlett’s Municipal Planning Commission approved a site plan for a proposed 113,000-square-foot Hy-Vee grocery store at the northeast corner of New Brunswick Road and Old Brunswick Road.

Bartlett Mayor David Parsons announced the new store plans, which was to include an in-store pharmacy.

It is now being reported those plans are on indefinite hold.

    Let us explore.

    Hy-Vee, 2024

According to a recent report from CommercialAppeal.com, the company is discontinuing the plans as it reevaluates its national expansion.

As excerpted from the report: “We’ve kind of getting word with interest rates and cost of construction so high that it has got them (Hy-Vee) re-thinking their capital growth plan,” Parsons said. “They’re just telling us with the costs as high as they are right now, that they’re not moving forward on any of their projects in America.”

Hy-Vee reportedly operates over 280 locations nationwide.

    Conclusion

This is a developing story. In the event of pertinent updates to this matter, I will share them here on NewsBreak.
