    Author’s Note

This article is based on corporate postings and accredited media reports. Linked information within this article is attributed to the following outlets: ScrapeHero.com, The-Sun.com, Facebook and Aldi.us.

    Introduction

I have previously reported on Aldi's acquisition of the Winn-Dixie chain, thereby adding to and consolidating Aldi's national presence. Now comes confirmation that yet another Florida Winn-Dixie location is permanently closing and will be converted to an Aldi.

For perspective, per ScrapeHero.com’s most recently updated location count of existing Winn-Dixie locations: There are 543 WinnDixie stores in the United States as of July 23, 2024. The state and territory with the most number of WinnDixie locations in the US is Florida, with 460 stores, which is about 85% of all WinnDixie stores in the US.

    Let us explore.

    Winn-Dixie 2024

According to a September 6th report from The-Sun.com, job losses are expected to be substantial, following conversion trends.

As excerpted from the report: The retailer is reportedly closing its location in Fort Walton Beach, Florida- about 320 miles from Jacksonville, according to a Facebook post.

Independent verification has been received regarding the news, via a phone call to the store. The Fort Walton Beach location is scheduled to close in October and reopen as an Aldi approximately six months later.

The address is 798 Beal Pkwy NW, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32547.

    Conclusion

This is a developing story. In the event of pertinent updates to these matters, inclusive of official announcements of milestone dates, I will share them here on NewsBreak.
