Pearl River area recreation district employee stole $25K, sheriff says
A former secretary at a Pearl River-based public recreation district has been arrested and accused of stealing more than $25,000, authorities said. Brittany Ward, 36, was booked on a warrant Wednesday for theft over $25,000 and forgery, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office said. Ward is accused of stealing $25,277 from St. Tammany Recreation District 7.

Slidell fishing pier closed since Hurricane Ida gets $2.4M from FEMA for repairs
St. Tammany finally has federal money to repair a fishing pier in the Slidell area that was damaged during Hurricane Ida. The money comes courtesy of the Federal Emergency Management Agency, which will fund $2.4 million in repairs to the pier, Parish President Mike Cooper said in a statement Thursday.

Sheriff urges residents to lock car doors following recent burglaries
St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Randy Smith is urging residents to lock their car doors following a rash of vehicle burglaries which occurred last week in the Slidell area. Detectives with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Burglary Unit have arrested two Mississippi men in connection with the more than 10 unlocked vehicles that were burglarized last week in the Bluffs neighborhood near Slidell.
