Slidell man sentenced to 92 months for drug and weapons violations
U.S. Attorney Duane A. Evans announced that on July 11, 2024, JAMILE ROBINSON (“ROBINSON”), age 32, a resident of St. Tammany Parish, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Eldon E. Fallon to 92 months of imprisonment, 3 years of supervised release, and a $200 mandatory special assessment fee on two-counts of the indictment pending against him.
Pearl River’s Natalie Herrington named CSC Academic All-American

SUMMARY: Pearl River softball player Natalie Herrington has received multiple accolades, including being named a College Sports Communicators First Team Academic All-American. The Southern Miss signee graduated with a 3.87 GPA as a Pre-Medical major. Herrington had an impressive career with the Wildcat pitching staff, achieving a 1.61 ERA, 313 strikeouts, and a 35-10 record across 313 innings. She earned numerous awards such as First Team All-MACCC, MACCC Pitcher of the Year, NFCA All-America, and NJCAA Second Team All-America. Herrington is Pearl River's fourth CSC All-American, following Graham Crawford, Landon Gartman, and Ronald Baker.
Crusaders for Veterans hosting Honoring our Home Front family dinner benefit

Rec District Secretary Arrested for Theft
The former secretary of a local recreation district has been arrested after stealing more than $25,000 from the district. Detectives with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Financial Crimes Division were notified in January by board members of the Pearl River-based St. Tammany Recreation District 7 concerning the possibility of missing funds in the district’s account.
Community celebrates National Hot Dog Day in the Bay
The community came out in Bay St. Louis today as the police and fire departments teamed up to host Hot Dog Day in the Bay. Kids came out to MLK Park to play basketball with the officers. Officer Roy Fullerton said the event was hosted to benefit organizations in the city. “This is an effort that we partner up with the Bay St. Louis Fire Department in order to engage and mentor our young people in the community of Bay St. Louis. Waveland P.D. probes carjacking after man allegedly punches woman, steals her car
Officers of the Waveland Police Department are investigating a carjacking case after a homeless man allegedly assaulted a woman and stole her car on Thursday morning. At around 7:52 a.m. on Thursday, “Waveland officers were dispatched to Avenue B and Huron Street in reference to a simple assault/carjacking,” Police Chief Michael Prendergast said in a press release on Thursday afternoon. “Officers made contact with the female victim, who advised she was approached by a white male in the parking lot of Walmart who asked for a ride and said that he would give her a few dollars in return. The female drove to the area of Avenue B and Coral Street when the male assaulted her by punching her in the face. He stated he would kill her if she didn’t get out of the car.”

A Kiln mother and daughter were injured last week when lightning struck their home while they were both holding plugged-in cell phones. “I was laying in my bed and it was lightning outside and I had my phone plugged into the wall and lightning hit my house and came through the wall and through the phone charger into my phone and electrocuted me,” Kathryn Underwood-Teck said Tuesday.
