Rain Showers Greet Hot Bristol Night Car Show, But Enthusiasts Still Expected to Turn Out

BRISTOL, VA/TN — Despite rain showers sweeping through the area, the annual Hot Bristol Night Car Show will still roll out this evening on State Street. Organizers and participants are preparing for the event, which will begin at 6:00 PM and run until 9:00 PM. Classic and custom cars are expected to line the historic street.

As of this afternoon, the rain has dampened the streets of Bristol, but the forecast indicates a chance of the weather clearing up by the time the event kicks off. However, scattered showers could continue throughout the evening, so attendees are advised to bring umbrellas and rain gear just in case. “We’re keeping a close eye on the weather, but the show will go on,” says organizer Jamey Rector. “Rain or shine, the Hot Bristol Night Car Show is a tradition we don’t want to miss.”

Registration for car owners started earlier today under overcast skies, with many hoping that the rain will taper off in time for the main event. The $20 entry fee allows participants to showcase their vehicles, while spectators can enjoy the evening free of charge.

Safety remains a top concern, particularly given the wet conditions. All show cars must enter by Goode Street from Commonwealth Avenue, and vehicles will not be allowed to exit or move from their spots before 9:00 PM. This rule ensures spectators can safely navigate the streets, which may be slick from the rain. After 9:00 PM, all cars must be moved to legal parking spaces as normal traffic resumes.

State Street, known for straddling the Virginia-Tennessee border, provides a unique and picturesque setting for the event. Despite the weather, local businesses along the street are expected to see many visitors, many offering special deals for those attending the show.

While the weather may be less than ideal, the Hot Bristol Night Car Show is still poised to be a highlight of the summer. Organizers encourage everyone to come out, enjoy the evening, rain or shine, and be part of a cherished community tradition.

Whether the rain holds off or not, the Hot Bristol Night Car Show is set to light up State Street with the gleam of classic cars and the camaraderie of the Bristol community.
