Johns Creek is working on creating a hands-on learning space at Cauley Creek Park.

An approximately 13,400-square-foot building that was previously used as a water reclamation facility would be converted into a makerspace, according to construction documents for phase 1 of the project.

“Work includes but is not limited to selective demolition of roof and interior elements of an existing metal building, as well as installation of a new roof, installation of heating/air conditioning and construction of interior and exterior elements,” according to an invitation to bid (ITB).

The modern makerspace could include space for robotics, woodworking, 3D printing, classrooms and more, Appen Media reported . An initial proposal included plans for a mezzanine floor with additional space.

McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture is the architecture firm working on the project.

Cauley Creek Park opened in summer 2023. The 203-acre property is located on Bell Road, next to the Chattahoochee River.
