MARENGO, Ill. — North Boone’s Cami Carter pitched an absolute gem to kick off the postseason as she allowed just one hit and one walk while striking out 10 batters in a complete-game 2-0 shutout against Johnsburg.

Sure, the Skyhawks’ Joree Tibbs had a nice outing of her own as she allowed only five hits and no walks with three strikeouts in six innings, but North Boone’s offense found just enough ways to score in the the IHSA 2A Regional semifinal 2-0 Thursday.

Danielle Goodman doubled and scored on Ava Torres’ double in the fourth to break the scoreless tie. Goodman added a solo home run to provide an insurance run.

Torres finished with two doubles and Abby Galarza one as the Vikings finished with five hits, all doubles.

A double by Kayla Riener was all the offense that sixth-seeded Johnsburg (14-16) could muster .

Fourth-seeded North Boone (24-4) will play top-seeded hosting Marengo in the regional championship Friday at 4:30 p.m.

    • WISCONSIN HEIGHTS 6, PARKVIEW 4: Macy Stampfi put the eighth-seeded Vanguards ahead for good with her RBI groundout to second in the bottom of the fourth that knocked the No. 9 Vikings out of the playoffs in the WIAA Division 4 Regional Quarterfinals.

Parkview’s Jazmyn Wiedmer had a one-run single and stole home while Joey Meyers smacked an RBI single in a three-run fourth that tied it up at four.

Wiedmer finished with three hits while Natalie Abey and Kylie Stark each had two as Parkview (5-13) outhit Wisconsin Heights (5-16) 10-5 but committed four errors.

Stark threw all six innings for the Vikings and was charged with six runs (two earned) on five hits with three strikeouts.

    • WESTOSHA CENTRAL 3, BELOIT MEMORIAL 2: Just three days after falling 2-1 to the Falcons, who are ranked ninth in Division 1 by Wissports.net, the Purple Knights once again gave the SLC leaders a run for their money.

But Lila McNeill hit a walk-off single after Mia Kozak reached on an error to leadoff the bottom of the second and prevent the upset.

Westosha (17-2, 13-1 SLC) scored single runs in the second and third before Beloit tied it with Chesney Bishop’s RBI groundout and Brooklynne Hereford-Foster’s one-run single in the sixth.

Jasmine Smith and Allie Gustafson each had two hits for the Knights (10-11, 6-8). Rilynne Cleland threw six innings and allowed seven hits and three runs (one earned).

    • HARLEM 13, HONONEGAH 9: After clinching sole possession of the NIC-10 title with a win at Belvidere North on Wednesday, Hononegah head coach Denny McKinney decided to give top pitchers Aislynn Palmer and Zoey Calhoun a night off at Harlem.

The results weren’t pretty. The Huskies pounded out 17 hits, including home runs by Alaina Schwanke and Laci Knutson.

Hononegah (27-3, 16-1 NIC-10) used four pitchers in all. Only Sam Nosbisch emerged unscathed, getting two outs without allowing a hit or run.

The Hononegah offense nearly kept up with 12 hits and home runs by Addison Hulburt, Natalie Kinney and Danielle Franz. Kaelyn Kelly and Franz were both 3-for-4.

Harlem didn’t start ace Schwanke, but went to her in the fourth inning when Hononegah pulled within 8-7. In 3 2-3 innings, she allowed two runs (one earned), serving up the home run ball to Franz, and striking out 10.

    • BASEBALL: CLINTON 6, EDGERTON 5: Collin Gill delivered the go-ahead single in the sixth inning and the Cougars won an offensive slugfest against the Crimson Tide in RVC Rock action at ABC Supply Stadium.

Bryce Phillips and Gavin Wesling each singled in the sixth to set up the winning hit. Phillips’ one-run single had tied it at four in the fourth and Payton Whalen’s RBI single in the fifth made it 5-4 before Edgerton (6-9, 4-7) tied it again in the sixth on a double by Ethan Stengel.

Phillips, Logan Hendricks, who tripled, and Whalen, who also doubled, all finished with two hits for Clinton (9-6, 6-5).

Logan Thill got all but the final out, which Wesling recorded, and he allowed five runs (three earned) on 11 hits with four strikeouts.
