Johnson, City TN — The Appalachian League announced that Johnson City’s Gunner Boree and Elizabethton’s Manning West were named hitter and pitcher of the month, respectively, for June.

The 21-year-old Boree has been red hot after batting .400 with four home runs, two doubles, two triples, and 17 RBI in 18 games for the Doughboys he led all qualified APPY league hitters during June in batting average, slugging, and total bases and he concluded the month on an 8 game hit streak along with advice from his coach Boree who attends Brown has been patient in the pitch count.

“For me, it’s just try not to put too much pressure on myself and trust in my ability, you know? That’s baseball. You’re going to get hot. You’re going to get cold. Like, right now, I’m hot. That happens. And it’s eventually going to get cold. But I think the thing with baseball is just trying to find that even that balance and trying to be as consistent as possible. So I’ve been taking a lot of what Coach Tino hitting coach with the boys has been teaching me, trying to take that new approach and trying to just work to be better every game, take every that bad is a learning lesson and just learning from each bat and not focusing as much on the results, even though those have been positive, says Boree.”

Boree picked up in July where he left off in June with a hit last night against the USA Baseball Collegiate National Team.
