(WJHL) — In 2 weeks the greatest athletes in the world will converge on Paris for the Olympic games and one of them was born in Johnson City…

men’s gymnastics star Brody Malone who was born in Johnson City, but grew up in Georgia is making his 2nd trip to the Olympics, he was in Tokyo 4 years ago….

it was not one of his finer moments or the teams that finished 5th, so there is a burning desire to come away with better results this time around.

“It’s super exciting. Any time you get to represent your country on any level is always an honor, but especially at the Olympics is just an incredible feeling. This Olympics is going to be very different than my experience in Tokyo because in Tokyo you had all the COVID restrictions. We didn’t even get to stay in the Olympic Village and Tokyo. So I’m looking forward to, you know, getting the full Olympics experience. Staying in the village, being able to eat at the cafeteria, and having fans and the crowd, says Malone.”

Malone suffered a serious leg injury 15 months ago, but still came back to capture his 3rd U.S. nationals and qualify for the summer games.
