JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) – Winged Deer Park kicked off the third and fourth rounds of the 2024 Blue Ridge Mountain Summer Series on Friday. This is the second year that Visit Johnson City has welcomed the event.

On Friday, racers prepared for the third and fourth rounds of the series that will take place on Saturday and Sunday.

“Today is practice,” said Brad Adams, the CFO of The American Jet Sport Association. “We have practice from 1 a.m. to 5 p.m. today. And that gives our competitors an opportunity to come in a day early, learn the track and be more prepared for racing tomorrow.”

Adams said Johnson City is the perfect location for the competition.

“We’ve got to look for places that are a good hotspot for Jet Ski enthusiasts, racers and Johnson City is a good place for that,” said Adams. “There’s a great following of people who race Jet Skis and ride skis. The park here is great. The water is great for a track.”

Adams said anyone looking to race in the competition is still welcome to enter on Saturday.

“Someone can come out with their skis tomorrow and race if they wanted to,” said Adams. “I do need a lifejacket helmet and some safety gear, but other than that, we can get you going.”

The remainder of the weekend will include Pro WX Qualifiers/ Main Events, amateur and junior racing.
