    Johnson City, Elizabethton defend home field on Saturday

    (WJHL) – It was a strong day for Appalachian West Division host teams on a sizzling Saturday in the Tri-Cities.

    Cross bats twice in 2024 MLB All-Star Futures Game

    The Doughboys pushed six runs across in the second inning against the Otterbots, as they cruised to a third-straight win, 11-4.

    Colby Backus (Daniel Boone/Tennessee) surged for four RBI in the victory, while Christian Toledo also drove in a pair.

    Kade Huff’s fourth-inning grand slam got Elizabethton past Kingsport, 7-2.

    James Woody also went yard for the River Riders in the victory. Manning West (Walters State CC) delivered for the home squad on the mound, going 5.0 innings and allowing just one run on three hits. He also struck out six batters.

    Tyler Myatt provided the lone RBI for the Axmen in defeat.
