JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — The City of Johnson City is asking citizens to submit their ideas for the future of the city.

Johnson City’s Planning and Development Services Department is collecting data for its Growth Management Plan, according to a news release from the city.

The department is posing the question, “What is your big idea for the future of Johnson City?” to citizens.

“Your input is important to the success of the planning process, ultimately contributing to the community’s growth over the next 20+ years,” the release states.

Residents of Johnson City are asked to submit ideas and learn about how they can be part of the planning process by clicking here. Questions can also be asked of the department regarding planning efforts; those will be answered and posted online.

Those who fill out the online form will have 140 characters to describe their idea. The idea should fall into one of the following categories:

    • Growth and Development
    • Transportation
    • Downtown
    • Natural Environment

An email address and screen name must be provided.

As of Wednesday, several ideas had already been posted. Some ideas concern dog parks, traffic concerns, initiatives for local farmers and improved walkability through the city.
