JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) – An upcoming 5K race will raise money to help send local students to college in memory of an ETSU student.

The Joggin’ for Jess 5K is coming up on Aug. 10 at Tusculum University.

It’s the fourth annual race put on in memory of Jessica Colter, an ETSU nursing student who died at the age of 21 in a car crash.

Over the years, the race has raised thousands of dollars for the Jessica Colter Memorial Scholarship Endowment, which goes to local students entering the medical field.

Erin Turner joined Good Morning Tri-Cities with more on the race.

The race gets started at 8 a.m. on Aug. 10 on the Tusculum University campus.
