JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Johnson City Fire Department (JCFD) will host a child safety seat check on Thursday.

Certified car seat technicians with the department will install and inspect child safety seats at the event.

“Statistics show a majority of child safety seats are installed incorrectly,” JCFD Chief David Bell said in a news release. “This event will help address the issue by providing parents and caregivers with expert assistance and education on proper child safety seat usage. We are here to support families in making sure children are as safe as possible while traveling.”

The safety seat checkpoint will take place at Station 1, 2238 Watauga Road, from 2-5 p.m.
