Forbes names ETSU to ‘America’s Best Employers for Women 2024’ list

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — Forbes named East Tennessee State University (ETSU) as one of the best employers for women in America for 2024, the university announced on Wednesday.

The list compiled results from an independent survey of over 150,000 women working for companies employing at least 1,000 people within the U.S. from all industry sectors, the release stated.

ETSU ranked No. 230 on the list.

According to ETSU’s Assistant Vice President for Human Resources Lori Erickson, women make up 59% of the workforce at the university.

Positions in academic and administration at ETSU are held by women, including provost, vice presidents, deans and directors.

Erickson stated the university’s leave policies help balance working and parenting. ETSU also offers paid parental leave.

In addition to ETSU, K-VA-T Food Stores, Food City’s parent company, ranked No. 400 on the list.
