Statewide competition to find best canning in Tennessee

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) – Canning is a tradition in many small East Tennessee communities, and now the best are showing off their talents in a competition.

The Tennessee State Fair’s Canning Competition will offer canners across the state the chance to compete.

Elizabeth Renfro with the Washington County UT Extension Office joined News Channel 11 with the details on how to compete and some tips for canning beginners.

To enter the state canning competition, you can drop off your entry at the UT Extension Office. You can also call the office at 423-753-1680 for more information about canning.
