Storms, wind destroy Johnson Co. barn
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - Terry French was in downtown Iowa City during Tuesday’s storms. When he returned to his home, he was greeted with police lights. ““When I was driving, like a mile down the road, I could see some lights. I hoped someone was just getting pulled over, but as I got closer I could see all the lights were at my house. And as I got closer, I could see the building laying upside down in the street,” he said.
Johnson County Administration Building construction nears completion, services moving back in August
The Johnson County Administration Building, 913 S. Dubuque St., Iowa City, underwent major remodeling beginning in October 2023. Construction is nearing completion, resulting in a complete remodel of the interior, installation of new HVAC and fire suppression systems, as well as major accessibility upgrades and other service-centered improvements. This has created additional space for future County needs.
North Liberty woman accused of leading Johnson County Sheriff’s deputies on late night chase
A North Liberty woman faces charges that she led Johnson County Sheriff’s deputies on a high-speed chase west of Iowa City late Friday night. 46-year-old Angela Dyson of Swan Lake Road was allegedly observed by a deputy driving a 2007 Chevy Uplander with no front license plate on the 3900 block of Ivy Avenue…just south of IWV Road…just before 11:15 p.m. A traffic stop was attempted, but Dyson reportedly sped up, reaching speeds of up to 90 miles per hour in a 50 mile per hour gravel zone. At one point she allegedly blew through a stop sign.
