Straight-line winds caused minor damage near Iowa City as part of a storm system that rolled through the area on Tuesday night. The KCII Severe Weather Action Team took to the air Tuesday night to follow a series of storms in the listening area. At approximately 4:53 p.m. the National Weather Service Quad Cities Office issued a severe thunderstorm warning for northwest Washington, northeast Keokuk, southern Iowa, and southwest Johnson counties. Less than 10 minutes later, this was followed by a tornado warning for the same locations.

When he returned to his home, he was greeted with police lights. ““When I was driving, like a mile down the road, I could see some lights. I hoped someone was just getting pulled over, but as I got closer I could see all the lights were at my house. And as I got closer, I could see the building laying upside down in the street,” he said.
