Trailways South baseball: Johnson Creek's Joseph wins Player of the Year; 13 from area honored

Johnson Creek senior Taylor Joseph was voted Player of the Year in Trailways South all-conference baseball voting held recently.

Joseph was one of six Bluejays to receive recognition.

Senior Dylan Bredlow, sophomore Aiden Smith and Joseph were named to the first team. Junior Tanner Herman and sophomore Luke Hartz made the second team. Senior Silas Hartz received honorable mention.

Bredlow and Joseph tied for the league lead in the conference in total hits with 39 each. Bredlow recorded eight pitching victories.

Smith drove in a team-high 36 runs and earned seven victories.

Herman was third in the league in RBIs (29).

Palmyra-Eagle had four players honored. Seniors Sean Dooley and Travis Tiller and junior Devin Patrick were named to the first team. Senior Sloan Schneider made the second team.

Patrick led the Panthers in batting average (.469) and pitching wins (seven) and shared the team lead in RBIs with Tiller with 25 each. Taylor was second on the team in batting average (.421) and earned three pitching decisions.

Deerfield won the Trailways South with a 13-1 record, followed by Johnson Creek at 12-2, Palmyra-Eagle at 11-3, Horicon at 7-7, Hustisford/Dodgeland at 6-8, Fall River at 5-9 and Parkview at 2-12.
