NWS upgrades Elkhorn-Bennington-Blair tornado to EF-4
LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - The National Weather Service office in Omaha has revised the rating for one of the Arbor Day tornadoes that struck eastern Nebraska and western Iowa in late April. Specifically, the tornado that tracked from Elkhorn into Bennington and Blair was originally rated as an EF-3 tornado with maximum sustained winds of 165 mph. After a thorough review, the NWS has upgraded that rating to EF-4 with maximum sustained winds of 170 mph.

The Nebraska football team welcomed a class of 2026 wide receiver on campus for a weekend visit. Vance Spafford is a four-star prospect from Mission Viejo High School in Mission Viejo, CA. As a sophomore, Spafford rewrote the Mission Viejo record book. He had 83 catches for 1,576 yards and 22 touchdowns. Greg Biggns is a National Recruiting Analyst for 247Sports and wrote last March that Spafford had great potential at the next level.
