Arcadia council approves condo development, tree removal
The Arcadia City Council voted 3-2 on Thursday to move forward a large condominium development at 314-326 S. Second Ave., a few blocks south of Huntington Drive. The three-story, 33-foot complex housing 16 units on about 59,440 square feet received Planning Commission approval earlier this year. The complex’s 16 units will range from 2,305-3,207 square feet with four bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms.
Police investigating shooting that left one wounded in Boyle Heights
Police are investigating a shooting that left one person wounded in Boyle Heights on Saturday. They were called to the area near Whittier Boulevard and S. Soto Street at around 6:50 p.m. after learning of the shooting, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. They arrived to find one man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was rushed to a nearby hospital in unknown condition. Investigators are now searching for two suspects, both of which are believed to be males between 17 and 20 years old. One of the suspects, wearing a blue t-shirt, reportedly left the area on a black bicycle, officers said. The second suspect, wearing white clothing, was last seen fleeing towards Olympic Boulevard. No further information was provided by detectives.

4 brothers found safe after going missing in Palmdale nearly 3 weeks ago, authorities say
Four brothers between the ages of 2-5 years old have been found safe after they went missing in Palmdale nearly three weeks, authorities said Saturday.The children were found at a family member's home in California City and have been placed in the care of the Department of Children and Family Services, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Palmdale station.Authorities said the children's parents were arrested on unrelated charges. Before the brothers went missing, the parents missed a court date which sparked DCFS to search for the children, authorities said.The four boys were previously last seen around 2 p.m. July 1 in the 800 block of East P-12, and investigators suspected at the time they were taken to Mojave, according to the Sheriff's Department.Deputies identified the siblings as 4-year-old Kase Brown, 4-year-old Kai Brown, 2-year-old Kay'den Brown and 5-year-old Koen Brown. Robbery suspect shot and killed by deputy in West Hollywood
A robbery suspect was shot and killed by a Los Angeles County sheriff's deputy in a West Hollywood neighborhood Saturday.The shooting happened around 5:40 p.m. in the 1100 block of N. Gardener Street, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.The suspected robber died at a hospital after being shot. Detectives told Eyewitness News that the man was suspected of robbing a convenience store around the corner, but deputies caught up with him in the middle of N. Gardner Street - an area packed with apartments and homes.It's unclear what led up to the shooting.Authorities said a weapon was recovered at the scene.No deputies were hurt in the shooting.
