Drivers, passenger hospitalized following two accidents in North Smithfield on Sunday
NORTH SMITHFIELD – Two accidents in North Smithfield on Sunday led to serious injuries for those involved and delays for others traveling on Route 146 and Great Road. The first was an accident involving two motorcycles and a car at the intersection of Route 146 southbound and Sayles Hill Road in the early afternoon on Sunday, July 28. North Smithfield Fire & Rescue Chief David Chartier said that both motorcycle drivers sustained serious injuries and were transported to Rhode Island Hospital.

Kitten trapped below Fall River boardwalk saved by Animal Rescue League of Boston
This past week, a nine-week-old kitten became stranded at the bottom of a steep embankment beneath a boardwalk in Fall River, near the Cove Restaurant and Marina, according to a press release from the Animal Rescue League of Boston. A couple walking in the area heard the kitten mewing and contacted the ARL. According to the release, ARL Field Services spotted the kitten on a rock, about 20 feet below the boardwalk. The area was not accessible without risk of injury, and responders were worried the kitten might run if they went down to him. ARL contacted Fall River Animal Control for assistance in the rescue.
Fall River Public Schools appoints Brian Lally as Director of Human Resources
FALL RIVER — Superintendent Tracy Curley has announced that Brian Lally has been appointed as Director of Human Resources for Fall River Public Schools. Over his nearly 15-year career in education, Lally has served in multiple classroom, leadership and administrative roles. He started as a special education teacher in Cranston, Rhode Island, before becoming a middle school assistant principal in that district. He also served as an assistant principal and later a principal at Wickford Middle School in North Kingstown, Rhode Island, as well as the district’s Director of Human Resources. Most recently, he was Director of Human Resources in Barrington, Rhode Island.
