Coventry seeking volunteers for firearms committee
COVENTRY — Coventry Town Manager James Drumm is seeking volunteers to serve on the Firearms Safety and Home Shooting Range Study Committee. “The purpose of the committee is to study the challenges associated with firearms safety in the Town of Coventry, especially as it relates to discharging firearms in the direction of, or in areas near, property lines and near neighboring properties with occupied property and/or structures,” Drumm said in a post on Facebook.

East Providence authors and rosarians, Mike and Angelina Chute, will be speaking at the American Rose Society National Convention on Sept 9 at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Warwick. The Chutes will present their program, “The Brownells: American Rose Pioneers” which focuses on the Rhode Island hybridizers Walter and Josephine Brownell. The Brownells, who developed almost 100 rose varieties in both their Little Compton nursery and Brightridge Dairy Greenhouses in East Providence, were known for their Sub-Zero© roses that were sold throughout the United States from the 1930’s through the 1960’s.

Fall River Man Sentenced for Grease Hood Cleaning Fraud
FALL RIVER (WBSM) — A Fall River man has been convicted of performing uncertified commercial hood cleaning services at restaurants in Fall River, New Bedford and Westport. According to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, Antonio Borges, 62, was sentenced recently to the Bristol County House of Correction in Dartmouth in connection to a series of complaints in both Fall River and New Bedford District Courts.
