JOLIET, Ill. – Two people were shot during an argument Thursday afternoon at a park in Joliet.

The Joliet Police Department said at around 1 p.m. Thursday, officers were sent to Pilcher Park on Highland Park Drive to investigate reports of people arguing and shots being fired. When officers arrived at the park, they found a 24-year-old man who had been shot multiple times.

Medical personnel with the Joliet Fire Department took the man to Silver Cross Hospital for treatment of his injuries before he was flown to the University of Chicago Hospital. Police said they also found a handgun near the man.

Investigators determined a dark-colored sedan left Pilcher Park after the incident. As officers searched for the vehicle, Will County officials contacted Joliet police saying a dark colored sedan crashed into a security vehicle at Silver Cross Hospital.
