Three injured in 84E crash
Three people were injured — one critically — in a crash on Highway 84 East near Jeff Byrd Road on Monday, according to reports from the Mississippi Highway Patrol. Jadicia Everette, 26, of Waynesboro was traveling west in a 2017 Nissan Altima when she collided with a west-bound 2004 Ford Ford 250 being driven by Matthew Blount, 24, of Natchez, according to MHP. Everette was entrapped and had to be extricated by volunteers from Powers, M&M and Rustin. The process took about 25 minutes, and she was transported by EMServ Ambulance to South Central Regional Medical Center with what were described as critical injuries. Blount and his passenger, 35-year-old Kelly King, were transported by EMServ with what were described as minor to moderate injuries. Jones County Sheriff’s Department personnel also responded along with MHP and volunteer firefighters. The highway, just east of Jeff Byrd Road, was shut down for approximately 1-1/2 hours and traffic was diverted onto Poole Creek Road and back to Jeff Byrd while emergency crews worked.
