WDAM 7 Morning Commute for Wednesday, June 26 - Green Light Alert
PINE BELT, Miss. (WDAM) - It’s midweek, and road work is well on its way across the Pine Belt!. A reminder for Laurel drivers that Teresa Street will be closed from 4 a.m. to 10 a.m. through Thursday, June 27, for repairs to the railroad tracks by Northfolk Southern. The road will also close from July 1-3 for additional repairs.
Sources say foul play suspected after body discovered in county
Human remains were found on the side of a little-used old roadway just outside of the Laurel city limits, off Tom Windham Road, near Tallahala Creek, on Wednesday morning. Bike riders made the grisly discovery and called authorities to the paved trail, which runs off Slaughter Pen Road. Sheriff Joe Berlin and investigators with the Jones County Sheriff’s Department were there processing the scene before Jones County Coroner Burl Hall arrived to recover the body. Foul play is suspected, sources said. More information will be released when it becomes available, Berlin said. (Photos by JCSD)
