Local school districts will offer free meals to students next year
Gatesville ISD announced via Facebook on Monday that all elementary and primary students will eat free in the cafeteria for the 2024-2025 school year. While the school district has served free meals to the primary school students for several years, Superintendent Barrett Pollard said the school received official approval from the Texas Department of Agriculture to serve free breakfast and lunches at the elementary campus. The school is able to provide free meals under Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), a non-pricing meal service option for schools and school districts in low-income areas.

Kids learn about fire safety for library story time
Members of the Gatesville Fire Department recently visited the Gatesville Public Library for their weekly “story time” hour. After learning about fire safety from Gatesville firefighters, children and their parents stopped by the fire station for a tour and to explore the fire trucks. The library hosts “story time” for pre-K and elementary ages on Wednesdays at 11 a.m.

Gatesville Junior High has announced that it will hold its annual Meet the Teacher event on Tuesday, Aug. 6, from 5 p.m.-6:30 p.m. All returning junior high students who attended Gatesville Independent School District during the 2023-2024 school year must be registered to receive their schedule at meet the teacher.
