JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (WJHL) — Tennessee State Parks are inviting veterans to enjoy complimentary camping and golf on the birthdays of each military branch and Veterans Day.

State Rep. Rebecca Alexander (R-Jonesborough) issued a news release Wednesday, encouraging Tennessee veterans to take advantage of the “Stay & Play” deals.

The complimentary camping and golf is part of the state’s celebration leading up to the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

“Spending time outdoors is vital for anyone’s mental health, but it’s especially important for our veterans,” Alexander said in the release. “Free stay and plays are a small way we can say thank you for their service and give them an opportunity to explore Tennessee’s beautiful state parks.”

Below is a list of dates on which veterans can camp for free and have their green fees waived:

    • Sunday, Aug. 4, 2024 // Monday, Aug. 4, 2025 [Coast Guard]

Veterans can make golf reservations by calling the course where they would like to play a round.

In addition to the free nights, veterans also have access to discounts at state parks. The 2019 Tennessee General Assembly approved a year-round 50% discount for camping and cabin fees for veterans with a 100% total service-connected disability. To claim those discounts, veterans must make reservations less than 30 days before their arrival at the parks.

Veterans should be ready to provide a valid ID and proof of veteran status upon request at the campsites and golf courses.
