Fort Knox, Kentucky, a direct representation of a bastion of freedom, hosted its annual fireworks display and all the fun and exciting patriotic activities that go along with celebrating our Nation’s 248th Birthday. Their Fourth of July holiday kicked off at 9 am with the “Firecracker 5K”, the final race in a three-part series to earn the medal to complete the entire tank. Despite warm and humid conditions, the race was sold out, and all the runners, decked out in their finest red, white, and blue, had a fantastic start to their day’s celebrations. Moving into the afternoon, the skies became dark and dreary, the storm clouds emptied their floodgates fast and furiously, and the evening’s activities looked in peril and possibly postponed. As luck would have it, the skies cleared into the early evening hours, the chances of further rain dissipated, and the Fourth activities commenced promptly at 6 pm.
