Albemarle, Greene, and Madison among 15 Virginia counties primarily receiving USDA drought designations
WASHINGTON, DC (CVILLE RIGHT NOW) – Fifteen Virginia counties — including Albemarle, Augusta, Greene and Madison — have received primary natural disaster designations from the USDA due to the recent drought. This as we stand to go back into the extremely hot, dry weather pattern that began July from which we’ve gotten a break from in the past couple of weeks. This also means counties bordering these — such as Buckingham, Fluvanna, Orange, Louisa, Nelson, and Culpeper — are also eligible for FSA emergency loans.
15 Virginia localities deemed as natural disaster areas due to droughts
HARRISONBURG, VA (Rocktown Now) — 15 Virginia localities have been designated by the USDA as primary natural disaster areas due to the drought conditions, which include Harrisonburg, Rockingham, Augusta, Shenandoah, Page, Albemarle, Clarke, Fauquier, Frederick, Greene, Highland, Loudoun, Madison, Rappahannock, and Warren counties and the city of Waynesboro are now eligible to be considered for certain assistance from the USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA). Farmers in Bath, Culpeper, Buckingham, Fairfax, Fluvanna, Orange, Louisa, Nelson, Stafford, Prince William, and Rockbridge counties and the cities of Charlottesville, Staunton, and Winchester are also eligible for drought emergency assistance, as they are contiguous to the 15 primary localities.
