JOPLIN, Mo. (KOAM) — About 7:45 a.m. Sunday reports of a serious crash along I-44 near the Main Street exit alerted Joplin E-911.

Joplin Fire Dept, Joplin Police, Newton County Ambulance and Newton County Deputies responded.

The crash was located just east of the Main Street exit, at the beginning of construction work. All travelers were forced to exit I-44 westbound at Rangeline for two hours. The crash was cleared and all westbound could continue at 9:45 a.m. as we observed one vehicle towed from the scene.

One person rushed to a Joplin hospital, status unknown.

We observed members of the JPD Major Crash Team on the scene marking the crash for reconstruction as part of an investigation.
