Stormy Weather Ahead with Severe Thunderstorm Potential Through Wednesday Morning

Finally, the heat is replaced with storms.

Rain Timing:

• Chances begin as early as 9 PM south of I-44 corridor.
• Storms move in to the Joplin metro closer to 11PM-12AM tonight and continue for several hours.
• Rain starts to taper off by 7AM.

SPC Outlook:

• Pittsburg, Joplin, and most of our Missouri Counties are in a level 2 out of 5 risk for severe storms tonight.

Storm Threats:

• Main threats with these storms will be strong wind gusts up to 70 mph and quarter size hail.
• We are also likely going to experience heavy rainfall with these storms leading to localized flooding threats.

Future Track:

• Strong storms kick off around 9PM south of Interstate 44, but will move into the Central counties closer to 11PM.
• Strong storms will continue through early Wednesday morning.

7 Day Forecast:

• After storms clear out, temperatures return to slightly below average for the rest of the week.
• More rain and thunderstorm chances return this weekend and early next week.
