Fatal crash just off Downtown Joplin

JOPLIN, Mo. (KOAM) — Just before 2:15 p.m. Thursday reports of a two vehicle crash at 2nd and Jackson alerted Joplin E-911.

Joplin Police, Joplin Fire and METS responded.

One person in one vehicle was not responsive we are told, they were rushed to an area hospital Priority.

Capt William Davis tells KOAM’s Shannon Becker the person died a short time later at a local hospital.

The Joplin Police Major Crash Team have initiated an investigation. West 2nd Street is marked off for police to all traffic.

Capt Davis says a southbound vehicle failed to yield to a westbound vehicle resulting in a crash.

Names are being withheld pending next of kin.
