KANSAS CITY, MO – MIAA media day showcased a new era of recruits for Missouri Southern football. Inking 44 athletes on national signing day, head coach Atiba Bradley will be bringing in a lot of new talent in 2024.

MSSU offensive lineman Kenneth Fehrman said he feels this year’s group can make an immediate impact.

“We’ve got some good kids coming in,” said Fehrman.

“I think they’re going to make an impact on our offense this year. We’ve brought in some big linemen as well. I’ve been going against them in practices, and I think this is going to be a really good group.”

Wide receiver Akeem Gilmore would echo Fehrman. The senior said he’s gotten to know the next class through practices, and he’s very optimistic on their potential.

“We’ve got a couple of young guys that could make some noise this year,” said Gilmore.

“We’ve been teaching them and working with them behind the scenes, as well as getting to know them. I think the kids this year are going to be really special.”

On the defensive side, linebacker Zach Bergmann said he is also excited to work with the new group. The redshirt junior, now in his fourth season, said he’s looking ahead in the years to come.

“We’re excited to have a lot of young guys,” said Bergmann.

“I’m excited to see who’s going to step up when the season comes around, and it’s super exciting for the years to come.”

Coach Bradley would not only comment on the younger athletes, but also the veteran athletes within his program. In his fifth season with Southern, Bradley said he’s noticing a very big team culture change.

“This is a group that just goes to work. A lot of these guys never left, they stayed over the break and trained,” Bradley said.

“This group was hungry to get back at it, and it’s exciting to see because that’s not something I prompted, nor is it something our coaches told them, they took initiative on their own.”

Missouri Southern’s first game will take place at Midwestern State on Thursday, August 29th at 7 p.m.
