South of Fifth, aka SoFi, is a neighborhood in Miami Beach from 1st to 5th street. It's the quietest area of South Beach and my personal favorite area. Here is a list of the best restaurants in the area.

    Planta

    Neighborhood: SoFi

Address: 850 Commerce Street, Miami Beach, FL 33139

    $$$

What's unique? Fine vegan dining has finally arrived.

    What's great? The vegan sushi!

What's not great? The prices aren't always justified.

Tip: Get the Ahi Watermelon Nigiri!

    Prime 112

    Neighborhood: SoFi

Address: 112 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach, FL 33139

    $$$$

What's unique? Arguably the finest dining in Miami Beach.

    What's great? The steak variety.

    What's not great? The prices.

Tip: Share a porterhouse with someone and enter a comfy food coma!

    Fogo de Chao

    Neighborhood: SoFi

Address: 836 1st Street, Miami Beach, FL 33139

    $$$$

What's unique? Well, it's a restaurant chain. But, there aren't many Brazilian steakhouses in the area, so get in on the action!

What's great? The steak and atmosphere.

What's not great? Prices can be a bit high.

Tip: Make reservations well in advance.

    Lolo's Surf Cantina

    Neighborhood: SoFi

Address: 161 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach, FL 33139

    $$

What's unique? It's a restaurant with a slight view of the ocean, which is very rare in Miami!

    What's great? The burritos

What's not great? The service can lack sometimes

Tip: Churrasco burrito is on great!

    Big Pink

    Neighborhood: SoFi

Address: 157 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach, FL 33139

    $

What's unique? It's pink.....very pink. And the portions are huge.

    What's great? The milkshakes.

What's not great? It can get very busy and rowdy. It's a major spring break attraction.

Tip: The platters are seriously huge and a bang for your buck. It's more of a diner style, so go there with a completely empty stomach.

    The Local House

    Neighborhood: SoFi

Address: 400 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach, FL 33139

    $$

What's unique? It's the only venue I've found on Ocean Drive with REAL staff members who appear to like their job, not salesmen and saleswomen trying to lure you in. Fact!

What's great? Their drink menu and the breakfast food.

    What's not great? Not much!

Tip: The Huevos Rancheros are out of control.

    Smith & Wollensky

    Neighborhood: SoFi

Address: 1 Washington Avenue, South Pointe Park, Miami Beach, FL 33139

    $$

What's unique? It's one of the best water views in Miami and the only place where you can watch the cruise ships sail by while enjoying a delicious steak.

    What's great? Their steak selection

    What's not great? Nothing!

Tip: Avoid peak-time at the restaurant.

    South Pointe Tavern

    Neighborhood: SoFi

Address: 40 S Pointe Drive, Miami Beach, FL 33139

    $

    What's unique? The location.

What's great? Grabbing some food and drinks after a day at the beach.

What's not great? The beer selection could be better.

    Tip: Get their Cuban sandwich.

    Nikki Beach

    Neighborhood: SoFi

Address: 1 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach, FL 33139

    $$$

What's unique? The lounge area is in the sand. Cool. It's pretty much the closest bar/restaurant to the beach.

    What's great? Their brunch buffet.

What's not great? The cost of their brunch buffet.

Tip: Figure out how long you'll be staying. It could be better if you street park. You can actually get blocked in if you pay to park in their lot.
