Minerva appoints Councilman Boldizar as new Mayor following the death of Mayor Tim Tarbet

Councilman Mason Boldizar has been appointed as the new mayor of Minerva, following the unexpected death of Mayor Tim Tarbet last month at the age of 71. Boldizar, a lifelong resident of Minerva, expressed his gratitude and vision for the village in a letter to the community, acknowledging the work of his predecessors and pledging to continue their legacy.

“As your newly appointed Mayor, I know that I have big shoes to fill,” Boldizar said in the letter. “Mayor Waller and Mayor Tarbet have done a great job with this village, and I am honored and humbled to have the opportunity to serve you.”

Boldizar emphasized his commitment to maintaining Minerva’s recent growth and progress, highlighting the village’s resilience and community spirit.

“I have lived in Minerva my whole life, and I have a passion for this village and for ‘Minerva People!’” he wrote. “I believe people from Minerva are different, and we have a certain grit, pride, and determination that other communities don’t share.”

The new mayor, who will fulfill Tarbet’s unexpired term, outlined his vision for Minerva’s future, with plans to focus on housing initiatives, economic development, infrastructure improvements, and enhancing community amenities. He stressed the importance of collaboration between the Village Council, staff, and residents to ensure continued success. He was unanimously voted to assume the position by the rest of council.

“By working together, we can achieve great things for Minerva,” Boldizar said, expressing optimism about the village’s future and the potential for further growth and development.

Boldizar replaces Tarbet, who passed away unexpectedly in September, leaving behind a legacy of leadership and dedication to the Minerva community.
