A 29-year-old man died Tuesday evening after possibly being electrocuted while working, authorities said.

Trent Hooper, of Navarre, a Massillon Cable TV worker, was installing fiber optic cable in the 4600 block of Manchester Avenue SW when he may have contacted a high-tension power line, according to the Stark County Coroner’s Office. Hooper was pronounced dead at the scene at 6:39 p.m., said Harry Campbell of the coroner’s office.

First responders were called to the scene at 5:25 p.m. The Stark County Sheriff’s Department also responded to the incident.

“It is with deep sadness, we confirm the tragic passing of one of our team members, Trent Hooper. The loss is heartbreaking for our MCTV family. We send our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time. We are working closely with authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident. We ask that the family’s privacy be respected as they navigate this devastating loss.”

    MCTV President Katherine Gessner

Hooper’s body was sent to Cleveland for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
